Analogy Test

(सादृश्यता  परीक्षण) 

Analogy means related or similar. Symmetry questions are based on a specific relationship. We need to understand and test them. Such questions are easy to see, but there is a possibility of incorrect answers with little carelessness.

There are many types of relationship, antonyms, country-currency, synonyms, male-female, country-capital, state-capital, instruments and scales, country and river etc.

There are two steps to solve analogy test questions -
Step 1. Finding the relationships in the given groups
Step 2. Find the correct answer by applying it in the answers given on the basis of relationships.

 

States and Capital Based Analogy

First Word is State & second word is Capital (or vice-versa) in the analogy.

 

Examples :

Uttar Pradesh : Lucknow

Gujarat : Gandhinagar

Bihar : Patna

Kerala : Thiruvananthapuram

Punjab : Chandigarh

Madhya Pradesh : Bhopal

 

Country and Capital Based Analogy

First Word is Country & second word is Capital (or vice-versa) in the analogy.

 

Examples :

Pakistan : Islamabad

Nepal : Kathmandu

USA : Washington DC

Russiya : Moscow

Japan : Tokyo

Portugal : Lisbon

 

Synonyms Based Analogy

In such type of Analogy two words have same meaning.

 

Examples :

Maiden : Unmarried

Exhort : Persuade 

Redeem : Ransom

Obstinate : Cussed

Fleshy : Plump

Meticulous : Fussy

 

Dynasty and founder Based Analogy

First Word is Dynasty & second word is founder (or vice-versa) in Analogy.

 

Examples :

Gupta Dynasty : Shreegupta

Maurya vansh : Chandrgupta Maurya

Mugal : Babar

Sunga Vansh : Pushyamitra sunga

Gulam Vansh : Qutb ud-Din Aibak

maratha empire - Chhatrapati shivaji

 

Antonyms Based Analogy

In such type of Analogy two words have same meaning.

 

Examples :

Cunny : Clever

Futile : Useless

Obese : Fat

Accede : Refuse

Naked : Nude

Country and Currency Based Analogy

First Word is Country & second word is Currency (or vice-versa) in Analogy.

Physical amount and unit Based Analogy

First Word is Physical amount & second word is unit (or vice-versa) in Analogy.

 

Examples :

Time : Second

Work : Jule

Length : Meter

Volume : Litre

Temperature: Kelvin

Force : Newton

 

Instruments and units Based Analogy

First Word is Instruments & second word is unit (or vice-versa) in Analogy.

 

Examples :

Ammeter : Electric Current

Odometer : Temperature

Fathometer : Depth of Sea

Altimeter : Height of Plane

Barometer : Pressure

Galvanometer : Electric Current

 

Country and Continent Based Analogy

First Word is Country & second word is Continent (or vice-versa) in Analogy.

 

Examples :

Turkey : Asia            

Malawi : Africa

Canada : North America

Malta : Europe

Fiji : Australia

Peru : South America

 

Animals / objects and their storage Based Analogy

First Word is Animals/Objects & second word is their Storage (or vice-versa) in Analogy.

 

Examples :

Cow : Goshala

Lion : Cave

Clothes : Almirah

Fish : Aquarium

Horse : Stables

Car : Garage

 

Country and Newspaper Based Analogy

First Word is Country & second word is Newspaper (or vice-versa) in Analogy.

Country and National Symbols Based Analogy

First Word is Country & second word is Newspaper (or vice-versa) in Analogy.

Turkey : Moon-star

 

Country and National Animal

First Word is Country & second word is National Animal (or vice-versa) in Analogy.

 

Examples :

India : Tiger

Japan : Ibis

Australia : Kangaroo

New Zealand : kiwi

 

 

 


Type 1. Direct Word Analogy

(प्रत्यक्ष शब्द सादृश्य)

In these types of questions, relationships have to be established in the given components and this relationship has to be found in the options.


Ex. जिस प्रकार 'किसान' का सम्बन्ध 'खेत' से है उसी प्रकार 'वकील' का सम्बन्ध है ?
Ex. Just as 'farmer' is related to 'farm', similarly 'lawyer' is related to-
a. स्कूल से / From school
b. रसोई से / From kitchen
c. फैक्ट्री से / From factory
d. कोर्ट से / From Court

Solution: d. 
जिस प्रकार किसान, खेत में कार्य करता है उसी प्रकार वकील, कोर्ट में दुसरो का मुकदमा लड़ता है। 
Just as the farmer works in the field, the lawyer fights the case in court.

Ex 2. जिस प्रकार अस्पताल सम्बंधित है ईलाज से, उसी प्रकार स्कूल सम्बंधित है
Ex 2. Just as the hospital is related to treatment, the school is related to it
a. शिक्षा से / From education
b. मजदूर से / From the worker
c. नर्स से / From nurse
d. डॉक्टर से / From the doctor

Solution : a 
जिस प्रकार अस्पताल में ईलाज किया जाता है, उसी प्रकार स्कूल में शिक्षा दी जाती है 
Education is imparted in the school in the same way as treatment is done in a hospital.

Type 2. Choosing similar words

(समान शब्द चुनना)

In this type of questions, three words are given, we have to establish a relationship between them and choose the option that has the same relation to the options.

Ex 1. अस्तबल : घोड़ा :: गोशाला : ?
Ex 1. Stables : Horse :: Gaushala : ?
a. मछली / Fish  
b. शेर / Lion 
c. गाय / Cow 
d. लोमड़ी / Fox 

Solution : C 
जिस प्रकार अस्तबल, घोड़ो के रहने का स्थान है उसी प्रकार गोशाला गाय के रहने का स्थान है। 
Just as the stables are the dwelling place for the horses, similarly the cow shed is the place for the cow to live.

Ex 2. साईकिल : सड़क :: नाव : ?
Ex 2. Bicycle : Road :: Boat : ?
a. Air 
b. Water
c. under Water
d. Space

Solution : b
जिस प्रकार साईकिल, सड़क पर चलती है उसी तरह नाव, पानी में चलती है। 
Just as a bicycle moves on the road, the boat moves in water.

Type 3. Choice of identical word

(समरूप शब्द  का चुनाव)

In these types of questions, a pair of two words is given so that they are related to each other in a particular way. We have to find this relationship and find the same relation from the given options.

Ex 1. Jaipur, Lucknow, Dehradun ....
a. Mumbai
b. Ahmedabad
c. Agra
d. Haridwar

Solution : A. Mumbai
दिए गए प्रश्न में सभी राजधानी शब्दों का प्रयोग किया गया है अतः विकल्पों में से भी समान सम्बन्ध ढूढ़ना होगा। 
All the capital words have been used in the given question, so the same relation has to be found from the alternatives.

Type 4. Selection of identical pairs

(समान जोड़े का चयन)

In these types of questions a pair of words is given, however four answer options are given, based on the given option, the choice pair has to be chosen.

Ex 1. हार : जीत
Ex 1. Loss : Win 
a. अपना : काम
b. जल : पंखा
c. शोक : हर्ष
d. अमृत : पानी

Solution: c. शोक : हर्ष
दिए गए प्रश्न में विलोम शब्द का जोड़ा प्रयोग किया गया है अतः विकल्पों में से भी समान सम्बन्ध ढूढ़ना होगा। 
In the given question, the word inverse has been used, so the same relation has to be found from the alternatives.

Type 5. Letter's Analogy

(अक्षर समरूपता)

In order to solve questions related to letter symmetry, it is necessary to have knowledge of serial numbers from the front and back of each letter of the English alphabet. Questions cannot be solved without it.

Ex. 1 ACEG : SUWY :: BDFH : ?
a. TXZV 
b. TVXZ
c. RTZV
d. RTVZ

Type 6. Number Analogy

(संख्या समरूपता)

To solve this type of questions, we need to know the complete square of numbers from 1 to 20 and the complete cube of numbers from 1 to 10. In addition, multiplication, division addition, subtraction can also be embedded between any number.

Ex 1.  2 : 8 :: 3 : ?
a. 21
b. 24
c. 27 
d. 30

Solutions : 27
8 का cube root 2 है इसी प्रकार 27 का cube root 3 है। 

Ex 2. 7 : 45 :: 5 : ?
a. 31
b. 24
c. 35  
d. 33 

Solutions : 33 
7 x 6 + 3 = 45
5 x 6 + 3 = 35
